James Darren went from youngster icon status acting in youth-situated motion pictures like “Gidget” to turning into an entertainer on Television programs such as “Star Journey: Profound Space Nine” and “T.J.”

JAMES DARREN DEATH
At Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles on Monday, Hooker, a singer and director, passed away. He was 88. His child Jim Moret said that he had the option to communicate his adoration for his family while being treated in the cardiovascular unit. He was a decent person.
Moret said that he had a lot of talent. “He was always young.” Moret was grateful to his father for continuing to interact with his fans and taking on his signature role as the surfer Moon Doggie in the “Gidget” movie. He was born in Philadelphia.
James Darren went to New York to study acting with Stella Adler. He got a contract with Columbia Pictures and got his first role in the movie “Rumble on the Docks.”
James Darren then appeared in movies like “Operation Mad Ball” and “Gunmen’s Walk” before being cast in the 1959 teen movie “Gidget,” which starred Cliff Robertson and Sandra Dee.
James Darren also sang the movie’s title song, which was based on the life of a teenage surfer girl in Malibu and became a hit TV show.
The “Gidget” signature tune sent off a fruitful vocalist profession for Darren, who had a gold record with “Farewell Horrible World” in 1961 and delivered something like 14 collections.
He continued to appear in motion pictures like “Because They’re Young,” “The Guns of Navarone,” “The Gene Krupa Story,” and others. He repeated his job as Moon Doggie in “Gidget Goes Hawaiian” and again in “Gidget Goes to Rome,” however he was worn out on the pigeonholing by then, at that point.
After a brief appearance in Jess Franco’s “Venus in Furs” in Italy, he went on to guest-star on several television shows, including “Love, American Style,” “Fantasy Island,” and “The Love Boat.” His first television role was in the series “The Time Tunnel.”
Darren appeared frequently on “T.J. From 1983 to 1986, Hooker directed episodes of the television series Melrose Place and Beverly Hills, 90210. He tracked down another age of fans in 1998 as Vic Fontaine, the holographic parlor vocalist on “Star Journey: Profound Space Nine.”
His wife Evy, sons Tony Darren, Christian Darren, and Jim Moret, as well as five grandchildren, are all still living.
