Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem shocked the world by throwing a javelin 92.97 meters upper in the Javelin Games at Paris Olympics and defeated India’s Neeraj Chopra to win the gold medal.
With the throw, he assured himself the gold medal while defending champion Neeraj Chopra finished second-best, with his season-best throw of 89.45 meters.
He broke 118 years record of javelin at Paris Olympics. Deemed as Pakistan’s best chance of winning a medal at the 2024 Games, Nadeem, the nine-time international medalist and four-time gold medalist had finished seventh at the last edition of the Olympics. He become a first Pakistani athlete who win gold medal at Olympics.
Not only was it Chopra’s season best throw, but it was also enough for him to secure a silver after a historic gold in Tokyo three years ago.
