TROPICAL STORM MILTON’S LAND HAZARDS
Rain: Rainfall of 5 to 8 inches, with local totals of up to 12 inches, is expected in parts of the Florida peninsula and the Keys Wednesday night.
This rain will cause urban and regional flooding and minor flooding in rivers. The system could also bring 2 to 4 inches of rain to parts of the northern Yucatan Peninsula and western Cuba.
Waves: Winds produced by this system will begin to affect the southeastern Gulf of Mexico today. These waves are expected to spread north and east along most of the Persian Gulf coast early next week.

Tropical Storm Milton’s key messages
- Milton is expected to strengthen as it moves east-northeast over the Gulf of Mexico and will approach hurricane strength by the time it arrives on the west coast of the Florida peninsula midweek.
- By late Tuesday or Wednesday, storm and damaging wind effects will increase over parts of the west coast of Florida. Residents of these areas should know how to implement their storm plan, follow the advice of local officials, and check for forecast updates.
- Areas of heavy rain will affect parts of Florida before Milton on Sunday and Monday, with the heaviest rain associated with the system expected by the end of Sunday through Wednesday night. This rain carries the risk of flooding, urban and regional flooding, and moderate to moderate flooding of rivers.
